Puigpunyent
Puigpunyent - wonderful Mallorca without extreme tourist hype
Those who have wanted to visit Mallorca for a long time, but have avoided this beautiful island because of the many tourists and the fear of overcrowded holiday resorts, should give the idyllic village Puigpunyent a chance.
Location and surroundings
The small mountain village is part of the administrative district of Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range in the north-west of the island that has even been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
But not only the Serra da Tramuntana itself is of unbelievable beauty, also the direct environment captivates with an impressive nature.
Situated at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range with its extraordinary rock formations, the village is surrounded by forests of pine and oak trees and small almond and carob groves. In contrast to the forests in other regions of the island, the leaves of the leaves turn brightly coloured in autumn instead of simply wilting, a special natural spectacle for Mallorca.
Life in the village
With about 1400 inhabitants, most of them locals, the mountain village has a rather leisurely rhythm.Activities and excursions
Hikers and cyclists will find the area to their liking, as the mountains and forests offer many hiking and cycling trails. The natural park La Reserva Puig de Galatzó with its largely unspoilt nature also makes the village an attractive starting point for many excursions. For those who prefer a better overview and want to enjoy the local cuisine, we recommend a visit with lunch to one of the family-run wineries, where you can relax under the vines.
The town also hosts several festivals, such as the summer festival at the beginning of August with music, sport and crafts. Music lovers can enjoy the music festival in mid-August, where concerts of traditional and classical music are held every evening for several days.
Food and drink
From a culinary point of view, the mountain village offers a suitable selection for almost every taste. In addition to the above-mentioned wineries with rural cuisine, the village itself has a number of cafés offering traditional tapas dishes as well as North European dishes. Ca Sa Nina is one of them, here you will find seasonal food lovingly prepared with fresh regional ingredients at reasonable prices. But also the upscale cuisine is at home here, for example in the restaurant Oleum in the 5-star hotel Son Net with national and international wine list and predominantly Majorcan, but also partly exotic dishes.
Hotels and accommodation
Besides the already mentioned luxury hotel Son Net and the Es Ratxo Hotel & Spa, also awarded 5 stars, there are numerous accommodations in different price ranges and equipment. For example, you can rent your own villa such as the Finca Sa Taulera for up to 10 people or one of the picturesque fincas in a picturesque location just outside the hotel, where you can eat yourself. You can also find smaller estates in the surrounding area that offer overnight stays including breakfast.
Palma is only 15 minutes away by car, so after a walk in the fragrant pine woods or a visit to a vineyard, you can immerse yourself in the lively nightlife of the capital.
Puigpunyent offers pure relaxation without the danger of boredom.
